Companies have started experimenting with drones for warfare, controlled by AI. Companies think, what best than try these AI drones on the ongoing wars?

A recent article from the New York Times talks about how Vyriv, a Ukrainian drone company, uses drones for military purposes. Similar to what you must have seen in an action film, not just any, but the ones in which they use state-of-the-art technology, these drones lock onto your targets and then without any manual intervention, the AI powered drone swiftly hits its target. It’s no doubt, amazing but also, scary. Ukraine has been using like mannered drones for some time now, as this gives them an edge over Russia. Government has been funding and what is unique is the low-cost production of these mini weapons. It seems they have been setting up labs and factories, to create more of remote-controlled devices, which would provide the Ukrainian soldiers an upper hand in combating from a distance. And of recently, they started automating it. The ones using AI make use of computer vision algorithms and sometimes more powerful, deep learning algorithms for attacks.

Recently, Professor Geoffrey spoke about the dangers, warning that in the wrong hands, such technology could lead to mass extinction. Remember in war no one is right, what remains at the end is who is left. If Ukraine has started using AIs, Russia with its new ally China could make use of the technology too. It won’t be long when we would see a new version of the war. AI war.  Ethics and proper rules need to be discussed. But what ethics exist, when on war? Would there have been war, if at all ethics were followed? Who are we kidding! Companies, especially the drone ones and those who would like to weaponize AI, find it the best time to start setting up their business in these battlegrounds.
