Consent is a must. It seems according to Scarlett Johansson, the OpenAI founders have broken this simple rule. Come to the point, will you?! Oh yeah, I’m sorry, well, the Black Widow actress, recently sued OpenAI for using her voice for the AI assistant, Sky. And literally, her voice. The voice is similar to the one she had sounded in the movie, “Her”.

For the unversed, the movie “Her” is about a man falling in love with an AI virtual assistant. Scarlett is the voice for the AI. Joaquin Phoenix plays the lead.

For those of you who missed the presentation and would like to hear Sky’s voice – here it is. Also, if you are interested to know the updates, don’t worry, we have covered it for you in our OpenAI presentation article.

According to Scarlett, she was offered twice for lending voice to Sky, but she disapproved it both times. For this reason, she was shocked when she got to know that Sky had an eerily similar voice. Sam Altman responded to it by saying that it was some unnamed artist. However, for his respect for Ms. Johansson, Sam has agreed to take down the voice in their products.

Hmm, so, what do you think might have happened? This is embarrassing for OpenAI if they had indeed violated ethical standards by using an actress’s voice without her consent.
