This is probably one of those blogs that tells you about unexpected events, leaving us wondering why they even happened in first place. OpenAI has now one less lawsuit to worry about. Elon Musk, one of the co-founders of OpenAI, decided to withdraw his lawsuit against his former company.

So, what actually happened? According to him, when the company first started it was supposed to be non-profit. One fine day, after the launch of GPT-4 last year, Musk wakes up, sees the presentation, and he is like, “Hey, wait a second! This is no longer an open-source, non-profit company!”. He files a lawsuit. He wants OpenAI to go public with its research, and not use its assets for the financial benefit of companies like Microsoft. OpenAI was like, “Come on! We have to deal with a lot of other things, leave us alone!”, and stated in the court that these are attempts by Musk to advance his own interests. Remember, he has his own AI startup now, xAI. So, what they are indicating is that Musk is jealous of OpenAI success.
Yesterday, Apple announced its partnership with OpenAI. This has enraged Musk even more and it seems he is going to ban iPhone and Apple products from the premises of his companies if they go forward with it. Apple investors share a different view as they are optimistic and the stocks went high after the announcement.
Today, on another fine day, Musk wakes up and decides to drop the lawsuit, dismissing it without prejudice. This means the case is only dismissed temporarily. Again, what that means is that he could re-file those charges on another fine day. Yeah, yeah! I know right? We will blog about the developments on that fine day. Until then, we will meet up with other exciting stories.
